Continuation of the program, yes, with a rolling admission process that will judge ideas as they come in to us.
Agreed to not fund Gary Fallick’s second sound equipment request as we demonstrated need with our pilot project funding. Since the equipment is in demand Diana felt Friends of Cary Library may fund it.
LifeTimes creative arts journal. Long discussion with the following consensus:
We should seek a sponsor (s) for the June issue. In the event we do not find one or two then we should use our own funds and print our accomplishments and donors on the available blank front and back space.
Given the caliber of our first endeavor we might seek to gain recognition for the magazine from an outside source,i.e. AARP or similar organization.
Budget probably more than $3000.00 when you take into account printing costs.
We agreed that the January reception was a one- time event to introduce the magazine.
We will send a complimentary copy to our $100.00 and over donors (46).
The magazine definitely falls within our mission.
GARDEN PARTY FUNDRAISER. Hemali has proposed a garden party for people over 21 on our grounds on June 29th from 5-7. We support the proposal as follows:
Human Services will organize and pay for food and music. HOME INSTEAD will provide the wine and contribute a basket to be one of the prizes. The local band “Better Her Than Me’” will provide the music. There will be an admission fee of $20.00 to reimburse Human Services for their out of pocket expenses.
Our part in raising funds for ourselves will be to go out and get donations in kind for people to take a chance on or to bid on in a silent auction or a combination of the two methods. The entire proceeds from this effort will go to us. We have begun to organize a committee to obtain donations from a variety of sources including in house programs and trips.
We hope more of you will work on this with us but for now, Lorain, Carol, Jane,Diana, and Janice have volunteered to organize the effort. Hemali and Melissa will list some of their ideas for donors. Hemali thought we might offer one free ticket to the planned September trip to Amish country. A free OWLL course and an exercise class.at the CC were other suggestions. Lexington Symphony tickets, Lyric Stage tickets, Spectrum Management who runs the performances at Cary Hall another suggestion. Your ideas welcome. Vacation home use was another option mentioned.
